Trude ENGELSBERGER was born in Salzburg in 1920. In order to be able to meet her artistic need for expression, she began studying in Vienna, but soon returned to Salzburg. She continues to paint as an autodidact and develops a very personal style that has different artistic phases. Her originally brightly colored pictures are later replaced by the preoccupation with collages, in which she processes many found objects. In her melancholy late work, the figure of the woman plays a decisive role. She was a member of the “Salzburg Group” around Peiffer Watenphul, Muthspiel, Toledo, Moldovan, Breiter and Hradil, with whom she exhibits her works. Trude Engelsberger dies in Salzburg in 1986.
