Linde WABER was born in Zwet­tl in Low­er Aus­tria in 1940. She com­plet­ed her stud­ies at the Acad­e­my of Fine Arts in Vien­na with Prof. Mar­tin and Prof. Melch­er in 1964. Study trips through Europe, includ­ing Japan, Africa, Chi­na and the Caribbean follow.
The artis­tic focus is ini­tial­ly on the col­or wood­cut and the draw­ing, main­ly on the land­scape drawing.
From 1982 so-called “day and stu­dio draw­ings” were cre­at­ed. In the ear­ly 1990s, the artist devot­ed her­self increas­ing­ly to oil and egg tem­pera paint­ing. The result­ing pic­tures have some­thing dynam­ic, wild and pro­lif­er­at­ing, the veg­e­ta­tion sprouts up bright­ly. The inten­si­ty of the expe­ri­ence, the paint­ing, its themes, the for­mats, the tech­nol­o­gy are direct­ly relat­ed to the life that the painter and graph­ic artist is cur­rent­ly lead­ing. Linde Waber lives and works when she is not trav­el­ing in Vien­na and Zwettl.
