Ernst Gradischnig

On the sec­ond floor of the gallery are pre­sent­ed land­scapes and inte­ri­ors on paper and can­vas, the artist Ernst Gradis­chnig, born in 1949 in Wien­dorf (Carinthia). Gradis­chnig stud­ied at the Académie École ABC de Paris from 1972 to 1974, then began train­ing in print­mak­ing in Salzburg and found­ed his own lith­o­g­ra­phy work­shop in Kla­gen­furt in 1978. Since 1979, numer­ous study trips have tak­en him to France, Ice­land, Croa­t­ia, Italy, Namib­ia, South Africa and North Africa, Hun­gary and Rus­sia, among oth­er places. For Gradis­chnig, the focus is on the imple­men­ta­tion and inter­play of col­or, light and the pecu­liar­i­ties of a land­scape, cap­tur­ing the momen­tary.
The artist lives and works in Witsch in Carinthia.

The artist, born in Bangkok in 1952, has been work­ing con­tin­u­ous­ly on work blocks in small for­mat for years. On the one hand, he com­pos­es col­ored sur­faces with pig­ments on the paper primed with beeswax. The sec­ond group of works com­pris­es reduced black and white pic­ture compositions.

Suvat grad­u­at­ed from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Applied Arts in Vien­na. Since 1983 the artist has par­tic­i­pat­ed in numer­ous exhi­bi­tions and exhi­bi­tion par­tic­i­pa­tions in Aus­tria, Ger­many and Italy. Suvat lives and works in Vienna.
