Nieves Salzmann, born in 1976 in Les Lilas (France), studied at the Ècole des Beaux Arts in Paris. In her painterly work she deals with landscapes and urban worlds. She walks through urban no man’s land, abandoned outskirts, industrial areas and deserted often undefined places. Perspectives, roads, traces and continuous lines that stretch into the distance fascinate the artist. The peculiarity of these urban landscapes, the outskirts, the no-man’s‑land appeal to them. She likes to use the variety of media. Her landscapes, cityscapes and architectural landscapes are painted on canvas, wood, walls, tracing paper, Plexiglas and recycled elements. The everyday places, through large flat areas of color that favor black, gray, green, ocher yellow and white, are complemented with material coincidences. The elaborate geometric compositions, the treatment of space with vanishing lines, slants, horizontals and verticals allow a deeper reading of Nieves Salzmann’s works in infinite perspectives. Nieves Salzmann lives and works in Paris.
New works by the artist are presented in the exhibition.
