GALLERY WELZ
since 1899
Welcome to Gallery Welz Salzburg
The company, founded in Salzburg in 1899, has been based in Sigmund-Haffner-Gasse 16, in the Palais Kuenburg (Langenhof) since 1910. Friedrich Maximilian Welz took over his father’s gilding and frame business in 1934 and gradually expanded the shop to include the gallery and the art trade.
The tradition of the Galerie Welz results in the work with today’s classic modern art and Austrian contemporary art. At the same time, there is a third central focus, Austrian sculpture after 1945 with works by Fritz Wotruba and sculptors from the generations after Wotruba.
Paintings, watercolors, drawings and sculptures are presented annually in around 16 exhibitions on two floors.
The art shop offers international printmaking, Japanese woodblock prints and low-priced works that are suitable as an introduction to collecting.
In the framework shop, professional framing and restoration of frames and pictures is guaranteed.
In the art bookstore, in addition to publications by the gallery’s publisher, new publications from the art book market are available.
