Alexan­der STROHTE was born in 1969 in Weser­ber­g­land. 1989 moved to Ham­burg (paint­ing stays on the Côte d’Azur, on Sylt and Mal­lor­ca). The artist has been paint­ing and pho­tog­ra­phy since 1985. Draw­ing and paint­ing lessons with James Don­nachie and Gabriël­la Cleuren. In Ham­burg he is study­ing design at the tech­ni­cal col­lege and study­ing art his­to­ry at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Ham­burg. Alexan­der Stro­hte has been work­ing on abstract seascapes since 1995. “Alexan­der Stro­hte paints the places of his long­ing … He paints Lake Wolf­gang, bays on the Côte d’Azur or North Sea beach­es, not by depict­ing them, but by con­dens­ing them, reduc­ing them to their essence. These seascapes are abstract only to the extent that feel­ings, sen­sa­tions and moods are abstract. ”, Thomas Plaichinger. Alexan­der Stro­hte lives and works in Hamburg.
