Karl Anton FLECK was born in Vien­na in 1928. He orig­i­nal­ly com­plet­ed an appren­tice­ship in the graph­ic arts indus­try as a gravure retouch­er, but stud­ied at the Insti­tute for Jazz Music at the same time. He spent the years 1953 to 1958 in Swe­den. After his return he became a mem­ber of the Vien­na Seces­sion and a mem­ber or vice-pres­i­dent of the artist group “Der Kreis”. In 1973 he was award­ed the Theodor Körn­er Prize. This was fol­lowed by par­tic­i­pa­tion in exhi­bi­tions at the Vien­na Kün­stler­haus “Der Men­sch und die Stadt” and at the Vien­na Seces­sion “Die Bahn heute” (First Prize). In 1979 he was award­ed the title of pro­fes­sor. In 1980 he was award­ed the City of Vien­na Prize for Graph­ic Art. Fleck cap­tured many of his friends and fel­low artists in large-for­mat draw­ings, as well as cre­at­ing extreme­ly strik­ing land­scapes and water­col­ors. Karl Anton Fleck died in Vien­na in 1983. 1988 – first exhi­bi­tion in the gallery Welz.
