Klaus FUSSMANN was born in Vel­bert in North Rhine-West­phalia in 1938. 1957 to 1961 stud­ies at the Folk­wang School in Essen. 1962 to 1966 stud­ied at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Fine Arts in Berlin. Par­tic­i­pa­tion in exhi­bi­tions since 1963, numer­ous solo exhi­bi­tions at home and abroad since 1968. 1974 Fuss­mann receives a pro­fes­sor­ship at the Uni­ver­si­ty of the Arts in Berlin and has been a mem­ber of the Free Acad­e­my Ham­burg since 1989. Numer­ous trips take the artist to Flo­rence, Nor­way, Ice­land, India, Aus­tralia, New Zealand and the USA. Fussmann’s work com­pris­es a clas­sic reper­toire of themes: por­traits, land­scapes, flow­ers, inte­ri­ors and still lifes. Numer­ous art prizes accom­pa­ny Fussmann’s work. He is one of the rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the new objec­tiv­i­ty. The artist lives and works in Berlin and Gelt­ing in Schleswig-Holstein.
