Alfred HRDLICKA was born in Vien­na-Brigit­te­nau in 1928. 1943 to 1945 appren­tice­ship as a den­tal tech­ni­cian in Vien­na. 1946 to 1953 stud­ied paint­ing at the Acad­e­my of Fine Arts in Vien­na with Albert Paris Güter­sloh and Josef Dobrowsky. 1953 to 1957 stud­ied sculp­ture with Fritz Wotru­ba. 1963 Head of the sculp­ture class at the Inter­na­tion­al Sum­mer Acad­e­my in Salzburg. 1971 appoint­ment to the State Acad­e­my of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, 1973 appoint­ment to the Uni­ver­si­ty of Fine Arts in Ham­burg, 1975 renewed appoint­ment to the Acad­e­my in Stuttgart, 1986 appoint­ment to the Uni­ver­si­ty of the Arts in Berlin and 1989 appoint­ment as head of the mas­ter class for sculp­ture to the Uni­ver­si­ty of Applied Arts in Vien­na. In 2009 Alfred Hrdlic­ka died in Vien­na. 1963 — first exhi­bi­tion in the Welz gallery.
