



Alfred HRDLICKA was born in Vienna-Brigittenau in 1928. From 1943 to 1945, he completed an apprenticeship as a dental technician in Vienna. From 1946 to 1953, he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Albert Paris Gütersloh and Josef Dobrowsky. He then studied sculpture with Fritz Wotruba from 1953 to 1957. In 1963, he was head of the sculpture class at the International Summer Academy in Salzburg. In 1971 he was appointed to the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, in 1973 to the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg, in 1975 again to the Academy in Stuttgart, in 1986 to the University of the Arts in Berlin and in 1989 as head of the master class for sculpture at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Alfred Hrdlicka died in Vienna in 2009. 1963 — first exhibition in the Welz gallery.
