Georg LOEWIT was born in Innsbruck in 1959. He grew up in Innsbruck, Vienna and New York. After graduating from the higher technical college (1974–1978) for wood and stone carving in Innsbruck, he completed his training as a belt maker and goldsmith in the Walter Deussl workshop in Innsbruck. This was followed by studies (master class) at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Professor Lohwasser and studying art education at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. 1982 assistant at the International Summer Academy for Fine Arts in Salzburg. Since 1986 chairman and since 1990 managing director of the professional association of Tyrolean artists. From 1987 teaching position at PORG Volders St. Karl / Tirol. In 1998 he was the founding curator of the RLB-Kunstbrücke, which he was artistic director until 2002. In 2001 he founded the RLB Atelier in Lienz, whose exhibition program he curated until 2012. Since 1979 exhibitions and participation in exhibitions at home and abroad. His work is represented in numerous collections. Works by the artist in public space: including large-scale sculpture of the stilt walkers, Freiburg im Breisgau, 1985; Memorial Häusling / Zillertal, 1986; Memorial for the dead children, Pradl Ost / Innsbruck, 1991. The artist lives and works in Innsbruck. Represented with works in Galerie Welz since 2018.
