Georg LOEWIT was born in Inns­bruck in 1959. He grew up in Inns­bruck, Vien­na and New York. After grad­u­at­ing from the high­er tech­ni­cal col­lege (1974–1978) for wood and stone carv­ing in Inns­bruck, he com­plet­ed his train­ing as a belt mak­er and gold­smith in the Wal­ter Deus­sl work­shop in Inns­bruck. This was fol­lowed by stud­ies (mas­ter class) at the Acad­e­my of Fine Arts in Munich with Pro­fes­sor Lohwass­er and study­ing art edu­ca­tion at the Mozar­teum Uni­ver­si­ty in Salzburg. 1982 assis­tant at the Inter­na­tion­al Sum­mer Acad­e­my for Fine Arts in Salzburg. Since 1986 chair­man and since 1990 man­ag­ing direc­tor of the pro­fes­sion­al asso­ci­a­tion of Tyrolean artists. From 1987 teach­ing posi­tion at PORG Vold­ers St. Karl / Tirol. In 1998 he was the found­ing cura­tor of the RLB-Kun­st­brücke, which he was artis­tic direc­tor until 2002. In 2001 he found­ed the RLB Ate­lier in Lienz, whose exhi­bi­tion pro­gram he curat­ed until 2012. Since 1979 exhi­bi­tions and par­tic­i­pa­tion in exhi­bi­tions at home and abroad. His work is rep­re­sent­ed in numer­ous col­lec­tions. Works by the artist in pub­lic space: includ­ing large-scale sculp­ture of the stilt walk­ers, Freiburg im Breis­gau, 1985; Memo­r­i­al Häusling / Ziller­tal, 1986; Memo­r­i­al for the dead chil­dren, Pradl Ost / Inns­bruck, 1991. The artist lives and works in Inns­bruck. Rep­re­sent­ed with works in Galerie Welz since 2018.
