Christa Mayrhofer was born in Haslach, Upper Austria, in 1958. In 1996 she received her diploma for her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna in the master class of Gunter Damisch. Christa Mayrhofer has been showing her work in solo and group exhibitions in Austria and abroad since 1994. Her works are represented in numerous public collections. Crista Mayrhofer has a special relationship with wood as a natural material. Her woodcuts are unique even where individual motifs are recognizable, because she uses printing blocks, which she covers in places, over long periods of time. Each work is the unique, sometimes unpredictable result of an individual, multi-layered process, even for the artist, for which she uses only natural materials. The artist lives and works in Linz (Upper Austria).
