Suvat

SUVAT was born in Bangkok, Thai­land in 1952. From 1980 to 1986 he stud­ied at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Applied Arts in Vien­na. From 1983 onwards numer­ous exhi­bi­tions and par­tic­i­pa­tion in exhi­bi­tions in Aus­tria, Ger­many and Italy fol­low. Suvat has been work­ing con­tin­u­ous­ly on three work blocks in a small for­mat for many years. On the one hand, he com­pos­es col­ored sur­faces with pig­ment and dust-like mate­ri­als on the paper primed with beeswax. The sec­ond group of works includes pic­ture com­po­si­tions in black and white that Suvat primed with lin­seed oil and reworked with pig­ment. In his way of work­ing he fol­lows the East Asian phi­los­o­phy by con­cen­trat­ing only on what he is doing. He him­self describes his art as an exer­cise, the neces­si­ty of which con­cerns him­self above all. While the artist is care­ful to avoid dis­trac­tion in his work process, this expe­ri­ence of con­cen­tra­tion should also be shared with the view­er of his pic­tures. The artist lives and works in Vienna.
