Annerose Riedl (b. 1949) is one of the lead­ing fig­ures in con­tem­po­rary fig­u­ra­tive sculp­ture in the Aus­tri­an-Bavar­i­an region. Her female fig­ures, most­ly carved from lin­den wood, are char­ac­ter­ized by an archa­ic, min­i­mal­ist for­mal lan­guage and a calm, pow­er­ful pres­ence. These are not ide­al­ized por­traits, but rather fig­ures of strong char­ac­ter who embody strength and qui­et self-assertion. 

Alois Riedl (b. 1935) is one of the most dis­tinc­tive fig­ures in Aus­tri­an con­tem­po­rary art. As a self-taught artist, he has devel­oped a dis­tinc­tive visu­al lan­guage since the 1960s that bridges the gap between fig­u­ra­tion and abstrac­tion. Every­day objects serve as the start­ing point for many of his works. The ordi­nary becomes extra­or­di­nary: Alois Riedl trans­forms fur­ni­ture and famil­iar forms into pow­er­ful, min­i­mal­ist visu­al entities.
