At the begin­ning of her artis­tic career, Joan­na Gle­ich’s focus was on work­ing from nature and study­ing old and new mas­ters, but she grad­u­al­ly opt­ed for the lan­guage of pure paint­ing. ” I had the impres­sion that the object resists the imme­di­ate leg­i­bil­i­ty of the pic­ture, as it obeys a dif­fer­ent gram­mar, so to speak, due to the mean­ing attached to it and the result­ing asso­ci­a­tions.
