Karl Korab, born in Falken­stein (Low­er Aus­tria) in 1937, stud­ied at the Acad­e­my of Fine Arts in Vien­na. The artist has lived and worked in Son­ndorf in the Wald­vier­tel since 1980. The ver­sa­tile artist’s work includes oil paint­ings, col­lages and graph­ics. In his works, Korab con­cen­trates on still lifes and land­scapes. He devel­ops his own unmis­tak­able archi­tec­ture from his real sur­round­ings. Through sub­tle abstrac­tion, he opens the view­er’s gaze and cre­ates space for new inter­pre­ta­tions. “I want to design, cre­ate a new real­i­ty for myself and for­mu­late it in my invent­ed or devel­oped visu­al lan­guage.
