Nicole Bottet, born in Pontoise in 1942, studied at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Her artistic work focuses on still lifes and her characteristic floral motifs. Bottet captures the aesthetics of the everyday in her works. She prefers to work with oil paints on paper and canvas and combines them with charcoal pencil drawings and collage techniques. She accentuates the subtle, finely tuned colors of her paintings through the selective use of gold and silver leaf, which creates a special luminosity. With her painting, which oscillates between abstraction and naturalism, she creates an unmistakable atmosphere and focuses on the poetry of everyday things. Since her first exhibition in Paris in 1973, her work has been shown annually in museums and galleries in Europe and Japan. The artist lives and works in Paris.
