YOSHI TAKAHASHI

Yoshi Taka­hashi, born in Tokyo in 1943, stud­ied at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Fine Art Tokyo and at the Acad­e­my of Fine Arts in Munich. In addi­tion to his teach­ing activ­i­ties (1973–1993), Taka­hashi cre­at­ed works on paper, can­vas and graph­ics. From 1974 onwards, he devot­ed him­self inten­sive­ly to print­mak­ing tech­niques. In his painter­ly and graph­ic col­or mosaics, the artist invites the view­er to enter gar­dens and dis­cov­er plants, ani­mals and hous­es step by step. Taka­hashi lived in Ger­many from 1966 and in Aus­tria from 1974. The artist died in Bad Reichen­hall (Ger­many) in 1998.

The artist, born in Bangkok in 1952, has been work­ing con­tin­u­ous­ly on work blocks in small for­mat for years. On the one hand, he com­pos­es col­ored sur­faces with pig­ments on the paper primed with beeswax. The sec­ond group of works com­pris­es reduced black and white pic­ture compositions.

Suvat grad­u­at­ed from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Applied Arts in Vien­na. Since 1983 the artist has par­tic­i­pat­ed in numer­ous exhi­bi­tions and exhi­bi­tion par­tic­i­pa­tions in Aus­tria, Ger­many and Italy. Suvat lives and works in Vienna.
