Friedrich ADUATZ was born on July 1st, 1907 in Pula/Istria. In 1920 he and his fam­i­ly moved to Styr­ia. Adu­atz stud­ied at the teacher train­ing insti­tute in Graz. At the same time, from 1928 to 1933, he attend­ed the arts and crafts school and the region­al art school in Graz (evening cours­es with Wil­helm Thöny), the Acad­e­my of Fine Arts in Vien­na and com­plet­ed sev­er­al study vis­its to Verona (with Piero Coel­li). Dur­ing the sum­mer months, Adu­atz often stayed in Carinthia around the Nötsch­er Malkreis with Franz Wiegele. Study trips to Italy, France and Spain fol­lowed. As a mem­ber of the Graz Seces­sion since 1931, the Hagen­bund in Vien­na until its dis­so­lu­tion in 1938 and the Vien­na Seces­sion from 1945, he took part in numer­ous exhi­bi­tions at home and abroad. Friedrich Adu­atz worked as a teacher and after the war head school direc­tor in Voits­berg in Styr­ia. From 1946 onwards, he turned to Informel in his artis­tic work. For Adu­atz, it was impor­tant to deal with the col­or, in which he immersed a reduced frame­work. His paint­ing was ground­break­ing for a new gen­er­a­tion of artists in Aus­tria. Friedrich Adu­atz dies on Decem­ber 22nd, 1994 in Voits­berg in Styr­ia. 1988 – first exhi­bi­tion in the gallery Welz.
