Hubert FISCHLHAMMER was born in Ried im Innkreis / Upper Austria in 1925. From 1940–41 he was a guest student with Prof. Hillerbrand at the Art Academy in Munich. 1946–47 he studied drawing in Ried with Gabler, Traeger and Simonka. From 1948–53 the artist worked as an illustrator and press draftsman. 1960–61 studies with Prof. Gisevius in Paris and 1962–63 with Prof. Soucek at the International Summer Academy in Salzburg. 1984 Awarded the title of professor. From 1988 dwindling eyesight impaired the continuation of his artistic activity. An eye operation enables him to resume artistic work. Fischlhammer study trips take him to Italy, Yugoslavia, Spain, Greece, the Canary Islands, Malta and North Africa. The artist is a member of the Innviertel artists’ guild, the Upper Austrian and Salzburg Art Associations, the Parz Castle artist group and the Vienna artist group Der Kreis. In his work, personal symbols and found objects from everyday life result in a game of illusions, paintings are collaged and vice versa. The artist has lived and worked in Vienna since 1974. 1986 — first exhibition in the Welz gallery.
