Edith Gruber was born in Graz in 1956. From 1974 to 1980, she studied artistic and industrial design at the University of Applied Sciences in Linz, graduating with a diploma. 1980 Master year for painting and graphics at the University of Art, Linz and attendance of the etching class at the Salzburg Summer Academy. From 1980 to 1987, the artist taught at the BRG Bruck and BG Lichtenfels in Graz. 1987 Moves to Salzburg and sets up a printing workshop. From 1990 to 2020, Edith Gruber worked as an art teacher at the Musisches Gymnasium and BRG Akademiestraße, Salzburg. To this day, she continues to work intensively with printmaking and takes part in numerous exhibitions in Graz and Salzburg. The artist uses the traditional aquatint technique, enriched by new experience, in her graphic works. The artist is fascinated by the possibility of formal diversity and not by the ability to reproduce, which was originally intended for printmaking. The graphic artist prefers to choose the motifs of the fish and the female human figure in harmonious or dissonant encounters from the wide range of possible contents. The artist lives and works in Salzburg.
