Anton KOLIG was born in Moravia in 1886. From 1904 to 1906 Kolig stud­ied at the arts and crafts school in Vien­na. 1907 Start of stud­ies at the Acad­e­my of Fine Arts in Vien­na. Here he met Sebas­t­ian Isepp and Franz Wiegele, who both came from Nötsch in the Gail­tal, and shared stays in Nötsch fol­lowed. 1911 Par­tic­i­pa­tion in the “spe­cial exhi­bi­tion paint­ing and sculp­ture” in the rooms of the “Kün­stler­bund Hagen”. 1912 study trip to France. 1914 return to Aus­tria. In 1916 Kolig was draft­ed into the Ital­ian front for mil­i­tary ser­vice. 1918 return to Nötsch. 1924 trip to Italy. From 1928 to 1943 pro­fes­sor at the Würt­tem­berg Art Acad­e­my in Stuttgart. 1936 Award­ed the Aus­tri­an State Prize. In 1944 Kolig sur­vived a bomb attack on Nötsch, seri­ous­ly injured. The artist died in Nötsch in 1950. 1948 — first exhi­bi­tion in the Welz gallery.
