Anton KOLIG was born in Moravia in 1886. From 1904 to 1906 Kolig studied at the arts and crafts school in Vienna. 1907 Start of studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Here he met Sebastian Isepp and Franz Wiegele, who both came from Nötsch in the Gailtal, and shared stays in Nötsch followed. 1911 Participation in the “special exhibition painting and sculpture” in the rooms of the “Künstlerbund Hagen”. 1912 study trip to France. 1914 return to Austria. In 1916 Kolig was drafted into the Italian front for military service. 1918 return to Nötsch. 1924 trip to Italy. From 1928 to 1943 professor at the Württemberg Art Academy in Stuttgart. 1936 Awarded the Austrian State Prize. In 1944 Kolig survived a bomb attack on Nötsch, seriously injured. The artist died in Nötsch in 1950. 1948 — first exhibition in the Welz gallery.
