Gabriele KUTSCHERA was born in Vienna in 1950. In 1968 she was accepted to the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, master class for jewelry and metal design, and received her diploma in 1973. Since 1975 she has worked as a freelance artist in the fields of sculpture, jewelry and product design, accompanied by numerous exhibitions. From 1986 to 2001, the artist was a lecturer in metal design at the HBLA for Artistic Design in Vienna. Gabriele Kutschera has dedicated herself to the art of forging. In 1987 she started working as a jewelry artist in a blacksmith’s shop in Vorchdorf in Upper Austria. There she realized that the small forms designed for the body were no longer enough for her. In a rhythmic process in which the iron is heated and hardened in constant alternation, she creates space-consuming and space-creating structures. Gabriele Kutschera lives in Vienna. 2004 – first exhibition in the gallery Welz.
