Kurt MOLDOVAN was born in Vien­na in 1918. In 1938 he gave up the job of pre­ci­sion mechan­ic and began study­ing com­mer­cial and illus­tra­tion graph­ics at the Vien­na School of Applied Arts. After five years as a sol­dier on the East­ern Front, he returned to Vien­na in 1950 and began study­ing at the Acad­e­my of Fine Arts in Vien­na, mas­ter class Sergius Pauser and evening act Her­bert Boeckl. As a found­ing mem­ber of the Aus­tri­an sec­tion of the Art Club 1946/47, Moldovan reg­u­lar­ly takes part in inter­na­tion­al exhi­bi­tions. Numer­ous exhi­bi­tions and par­tic­i­pa­tion in exhi­bi­tions fol­low. Work stays and study trips lead Moldovan across Europe and also to Mex­i­co and the USA. In 1968 he received the Grand Aus­tri­an State Prize. Kurt Moldovan died in Vien­na in 1977. 1970 – first exhi­bi­tion in the gallery Welz.
