Kurt MOLDOVAN was born in Vien­na in 1918. In 1938, he gave up his pro­fes­sion as a pre­ci­sion mechan­ic and began study­ing com­mer­cial and illus­tra­tion graph­ics at the Vien­na School of Applied Arts. After five years as a sol­dier on the East­ern Front, he returned to Vien­na in 1950 and stud­ied at the Acad­e­my of Fine Arts in Vien­na, mas­ter class Sergius Pauser and Aben­dakt Her­bert Boeckl. As a found­ing mem­ber of the Aus­tri­an sec­tion of the Art Club in 1946/47, Moldovan reg­u­lar­ly took part in inter­na­tion­al exhi­bi­tions. Numer­ous exhi­bi­tions and par­tic­i­pa­tions in exhi­bi­tions fol­lowed. Work­ing vis­its and study trips took Moldovan all over Europe, includ­ing to Mex­i­co and the USA. In 1968 he was award­ed the Grand Aus­tri­an State Prize. Kurt Moldovan died in Vien­na in 1977. 1957 — first exhi­bi­tion at the Welz Gallery.
