Zoran MUŠIČ was born in Gorizia in 1909. 1920 moved to Carinthia. 1930 to 1934 art stud­ies in Zagreb (Croa­t­ia). Long stays in Spain and Dal­ma­tia fol­low. After the Sec­ond World War, the end of which he expe­ri­enced in the Dachau con­cen­tra­tion camp, Mušič set­tled in Venice, which, along with Paris, became his pre­ferred place of res­i­dence. Sev­er­al par­tic­i­pa­tions in the Venice Bien­nale and the doc­u­men­ta in Kas­sel. Award­ed numer­ous inter­na­tion­al prizes. His sub­jects are bar­ren land­scapes of Dal­ma­tia and Italy, and views of Venice and Paris as an urban con­trast. In between por­traits, scenes from the every­day life of farm­ers and fish­er­men, increas­ing­ly abstract and in the form of prints. In 1995 his artis­tic work was hon­ored in a major ret­ro­spec­tive at the Paris Grand Palais.
