Zoran MUŠIČ was born in Gorizia in 1909. He moved to Carinthia in 1920. From 1930 to 1934, he stud­ied art in Zagreb (Croa­t­ia). This was fol­lowed by longer stays in Spain and Dal­ma­tia. After the Sec­ond World War, the end of which he expe­ri­enced in Dachau con­cen­tra­tion camp, Mušič set­tled in Venice, which became his pre­ferred place of res­i­dence along­side Paris. Mušič took part in the Venice Bien­nale and the doc­u­men­ta in Kas­sel and was award­ed numer­ous inter­na­tion­al prizes. His sub­jects were the bar­ren land­scapes of Dal­ma­tia and Italy, and as an urban con­trast, views of Venice and Paris. In between, he cre­at­ed por­traits and scenes from the every­day lives of farm­ers and fish­er­men, which he increas­ing­ly real­ized in abstract form and in the form of prints. In 1995, his pic­to­r­i­al work was hon­ored in a major ret­ro­spec­tive at the Grand Palais in Paris. Zoran Mušič died in Venice in 2005. 1974 — first exhi­bi­tion par­tic­i­pa­tion, 1986 — first solo exhi­bi­tion at Galerie Welz.
