Zoran MUŠIČ was born in Gorizia in 1909. He moved to Carinthia in 1920. From 1930 to 1934, he studied art in Zagreb (Croatia). This was followed by longer stays in Spain and Dalmatia. After the Second World War, the end of which he experienced in Dachau concentration camp, Mušič settled in Venice, which became his preferred place of residence alongside Paris. Mušič took part in the Venice Biennale and the documenta in Kassel and was awarded numerous international prizes. His subjects were the barren landscapes of Dalmatia and Italy, and as an urban contrast, views of Venice and Paris. In between, he created portraits and scenes from the everyday lives of farmers and fishermen, which he increasingly realized in abstract form and in the form of prints. In 1995, his pictorial work was honored in a major retrospective at the Grand Palais in Paris. Zoran Mušič died in Venice in 2005. 1974 — first exhibition participation, 1986 — first solo exhibition at Galerie Welz.
