Thomas PÜHRINGER was born in Wels in 1941. From 1956 to 1962 he studied at the Art School of the City of Linz in the master class for sculpture under Prof. Walter Ritter and from 1962 worked as a freelance sculptor, participating in exhibitions in Austria and abroad. He was a member of the MAERZ artists’ association from 1966 and a member of the Graz Secession from 1973. Since 1967, Pühringer has received numerous prizes and awards, including the Theodor Körner Prize twice. His works include sculptures and reliefs in concrete, terracotta, bronze, copper and aluminum work. From 1960 onwards he made woodcuts and linocuts. Thomas Pühringer also dealt with the planning and design of spaces and squares. The artist’s works can be found in public spaces and in public collections. Thomas Pühringer died in Linz in 2018.
