Thomas PÜHRINGER was born in Wels in 1941. From 1956 to 1962 he studied at the art school of the city of Linz in the master class for sculpture under Prof. Walter Ritter and has been working as a freelance sculptor since 1962 with exhibitions at home and abroad. Since 1966 member of the artists’ association MAERZ and since 1973 member of the Graz Secession. Numerous prizes and recognitions since 1967, including twice the Theodor Körner Prize. His works include sculptures and reliefs in concrete, terracotta, bronze, copper and aluminum work. From 1960 onwards he made woodcuts and linocuts. In addition, Thomas Pühringer deals with the planning and design of rooms and places. The artist’s works can be found in public spaces and in public collections. Thomas Pühringer dies in Linz in 2018.
