Heinz STANGL was born in Vienna in 1942. From 1961 to 1967, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Professor Maximilian Melcher. The painter, graphic artist and book illustrator began his career in Vienna, in the environment of Fantastic Realism, before turning to his own realism. His works, in bold colors with two-dimensional figures, often had a sensual component that contrasted with morbid everyday situations. From 1963 onwards, he began to exhibit extensively at home and abroad. As a member of the Vienna Secession, he was on the board of directors for many years. The fantastic-realistic-surreal human actor was awarded the promotion prize of the city of Vienna and the Theodor-Körner-Prize. Heinz Stangl died in Vienna in 2008. 1983 — First exhibition at the Welz Gallery.
