Heinz STANGL was born in Vienna in 1942. 1961 to 1967 studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, with Professor Maximilian Melcher. The painter, graphic artist and book illustrator began his career in Vienna, in the context of fantastic realism, before turning to his own realism. The works, which are held in strong colors with flat figures, often have a sensual component that contrasts with morbid everyday situations. From 1963 a lively exhibition activity began at home and abroad. As a member of the Vienna Secession, he was on the board of directors for many years. The fantastic-realistic-surrealist human performer was awarded the City of Vienna Promotion Prize and the Theodor Körner Prize, among others.
Heinz Stangl dies in Vienna in 2008. 1983 — First exhibition at Galerie Welz.
