Johann Julian TAUPE was born in Gritschach near Vil­lach in 1954. 1976 to 1981 stud­ies at the Acad­e­my of Fine Arts in Vien­na with Pro­fes­sor Max Weil­er. 1981 to 1983 lec­tur­er at the Acad­e­my in Vien­na with Pro­fes­sor Arnulf Rain­er. 1983 to 1984 Aus­tri­an State Schol­ar­ship for Fine Arts. 1984 Human­ic-Artist in Res­i­dence in Gene­va. 2002 Fun­da­cion Val­paraiso, Mojà­car, Alme­ria. 2011 Paris grant from the State of Carinthia. Mem­ber of the artists’ asso­ci­a­tion MAERZ. Numer­ous exhi­bi­tions and par­tic­i­pa­tion in exhi­bi­tions at home and abroad. The for­mal lan­guage of Julian Taupe’s works is cheer­ful and abstract. Lumi­nous col­ored sur­faces and geo­met­ric struc­tures are brought togeth­er to cre­ate imag­i­nary land­scapes and to open up a col­or­ful, unknown, yet famil­iar world to the view­er. The artist lives and works in Vienna.
