Felix Waske was born in Vienna in 1942 and spent his childhood in Tyrol and his school years in Vienna. From 1958 to 1967, he studied at the University of Applied Arts under Prof. Eduard Bäumer and at the Academy of Fine Arts under Prof. Max Weiler. During his studies, he traveled to Italy, southern France, North Africa and Greece. Felix Waske’s pictorial worlds are characterized by lively, figurative scenes. The small scale and care with which the artist creates his works is a decisive feature. For Felix Waske, drawing is the center of his artistic work, and photography is an important part of his viewing. Despite the well thought-out and planned realization of his pictorial motifs, his zoomorphic figures and bizarre hybrid creatures appear light and playful. Felix Waske lives and works in Vienna and Ibiza. 1981 — first exhibition in the gallery Welz.
